Consultant/Sr. Consultant

COEUS is currently recruiting a Consultant/Sr. Consultant to lead client engagements and help build our growing market access consulting practice. The position reports to the Vice President of Client Engagement.

Consultants/Senior Consultants play a central role in helping COEUS clients create and ensure patient access to new and existing therapies. COEUS Consultants/Senior Consultants collaborate with life sciences companies to generate strategic, innovative, credible, and relevant business planning, through execution, to support the development and commercialization of novel healthcare innovations.

At COEUS, Consultants/Senior Consultants work on multiple consulting projects, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery for clients in the pharmaceutical or related industries. General responsibilities include project management and creating strategic and tactical deliverables specific to market access. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in market access consulting, and a master’s degree in business administration or public health or a PhD in a biologic science.

Location for this role is remote, however travel to client locations is required.


• Work with project leadership to define project scope and develop approach

• Provide market insights by leveraging in-depth knowledge of Market Access (Payer, IDN, Provider Groups, Trade) landscape, healthcare reform, claims data, and managed care data

• Lead project task execution by ensuring progress, organizing project-related findings, and coordinating team meetings

• Synthesize engagement findings, develop recommendations and communicate results to clients and internal teams

• Monitor trends in drug coverage and reimbursement, existing and emerging government and payer policies, competitive pricing and contracting strategies, and potential barriers to provider and patient access

• Provide thought leadership and innovation within the Market Access practice

• Participate in business and strategy development

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college

• Master’s degree in business administration or public health or a PhD in a biologic science is highly preferred

• Minimum of five years’ experience in market access consulting, at least two of which have been in management roles

• Ability to communicate very effectively both internally and externally, including highly complex market access concepts; both in writing and in oral presentation

• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office

Required Skills/Abilities

• Demonstrated experience and understanding of:

U.S. market access landscape (i.e., payers, provider organizations, channel intermediaries) site of care economics, patient access, and drug reimbursement dynamics.

Unique challenges in drug reimbursement and ways of breaking through barriers to achieve access.

Drug distribution channels

Provider economics related to buy and bill practices and requirements to ensure successful launches of office-administered drugs.

Pricing & contracting strategy development and execution for retail and specialty products

Payer, IDN, and channel strategy development & execution

Regulations and logistics of government pricing programs

• Superior analytical skills combined with demonstrated expertise in strategy consulting in the life sciences industry

• Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills in virtual working environments

• Strong project management skills including work planning, presentation development, quality control, and client management

• Excellent communication skills both oral and written and the ability to influence others

• Conceptual and a quick learner, able to quickly assess a situation and generate new insights and actionable ideas
